Resident Evil 2

Resident Evil 2 is a survival horror game developed and published by Capcom. Released in 1998, it is the second installment in the Resident Evil series and is widely regarded as one of the greatest video games of all time.

Set in the fictional Raccoon City, the game follows protagonists Leon S. Kennedy, a rookie police officer, and Claire Redfield, a college student searching for her missing brother. The city has been overrun by zombies and other horrific creatures due to the outbreak of the T-virus, a biological weapon created by the sinister Umbrella Corporation.

Players navigate through various locations such as the Raccoon City Police Department and the Umbrella Corporation’s underground laboratory, solving puzzles, managing resources, and battling hordes of undead creatures. The game features multiple endings depending on the player’s actions throughout the story.

Resident Evil 2 received critical acclaim for its tense atmosphere, immersive gameplay, and cinematic presentation. It introduced several gameplay mechanics that became staples of the series, including the “zapping system,” which allowed players to experience different perspectives of the story through multiple playthroughs.

In 2019, Capcom released a highly acclaimed remake of Resident Evil 2, which modernized the game with updated graphics, gameplay mechanics, and voice acting while retaining the essence of the original. The remake further solidified Resident Evil 2’s status as a timeless classic in the survival horror genre.
